2003 – 2017:
Industrial Designer with Viscount Rotational Moulding

Created designs, developed products and facilitated mould procurement for a wide range of applications, from infrastructure , to materials handling, agriculture, chemical storage and more.

As a team member within a medium sized manufacturing company, brought proprietary and custom mouldings to life through 3D modelling, hands-on prototype assembly, testing and verification.

Liaised with customers, suppliers, and toolmakers. Initiated & encouraged lean office practices and procedures.

Hands-on assembly of new products and creation of BOMs.

Participated in cross-functional teams for the improvement of manufacturing & support systems.

Completed detail designs for plant equipment and was involved with product certification and testing to various Australian standards and safety requirements.

2011 April-Sept:
Product Designer with Leafield Environmental, UK.

Developed presentation visuals and 3D CAD models for new products. Obtained quotations for tooling and compiled product costings. Created detailed drawings of parts.

Leafield Environmental produce rotationally moulded recycle bins and street furniture and were formerly known as Linpac, as was Viscount Rotational Mouldings in Australia. This position was a secondment or temporary leave of absence from VRM. I returned to VRM in October 2011.

2002 – 2003:
Design Draftsman with EDI Rail, Maryborough QLD.

Helped develop the interior and drivers cab of a new passenger train for Perth.  As part of a large team, using 3D solid modelling to bring the concept design into production.  Created detail drawings and assisted with full-scale mock-ups of the cab and interior.

Created practical and aesthetic solutions within very large assemblies, mostly comprised of sheet metal, fibreglass and welded components.

Assisted others in the team in their steep learning curve of a new CAD product, whilst still achieving productivity.

2001 – 2002:
Applications Engineer with Cutting Edge Solutions

Based in Oxfordshire, they were at the time the U.K.’s Solid Edge Reseller of the Year.

Worked within a small team providing technical support for the 3D CAD software. Both telephone and on-site support.

Worked extensively on consulting and customer projects, visiting customers to help implement their new CAD systems & provide solutions to problems.

Conducted training courses for new users.

1998 – 2001: Design Draftsman with Fasco Australia

Contributing to the design of die-castings, injection mouldings, assemblies and packaging for a large AC electric motor manufacturer, producing detailed drawings for production, tooling and sales purposes, using both 2D and 3D CAD packages.

Implemented drawing office procedures for ISO system.

Trained & participated in transformation of business into “Lean Enterprise” methods of manufacturing.

Trained & supervised part time draftspersons.

Actively participated in the machinery and infrastructure layout for entire factory relocation.
